Devlog #0 Starting My 3D Model Diorama Project
This is the first entry of my development log for a 3D model diorama project. The end goal of this project is creating a complete 3D scene from start to finish, which is something I’ve never done before. While I have worked on individual models, crafting an entire environment will be a new test of my skills.
The Tools I Will Be Using
I chose to use Blender as my modelling software. I've decided to use it because I already have lots of experience with it, and the tools it has are ideal for making my models and environments.
For texturing my models, I will be exploring new software by using Substance Painter. I’ve never used it before, but I’m eager to learn. The program is held in great regard for its texturing capabilities, and I see this project as a perfect opportunity to learn.
The Diorama Subject
Before I start working on the models, I’ll be spending time researching and conceptualizing the subject of my diorama. I want to ensure the scene feels cohesive and thoughtfully designed, so I’ll explore different themes and references to guide my creative process. I want the final result to be rich in detail and atmosphere.
Why This Project?
I figured that creating a diorama as my project will help me develop a better artistic vision and improve my technical skills. I will gain a deeper understanding of how to design and develop a coherent scene. I haven't done something like this before so it pushes me beyond my comfort zone and this challenge will help me grow as a 3D artist.
Going forward, I am going to focus on researching ideas for my diorama.
