Interview Feedback And Reflection
Feedback
"Your interview went very well. You were able to let your technical knowledge and experience shine through within our discussion. There was only a few questions requiring some fine-tuning on technical aspects but overall I was very happy with your responses.
Your pre-interview task was conducted excellently. The documentation was brilliant, showing a considered approach to the task. The final outcome of the model is superb – a novel concept, technically accomplished to a brilliant standard. This kind of work and approach will really make you go far in a real-world situation."
Reflecting on My Mock Interview
Going into the mock interview, I was definitely nervous, but once we got started, I gradually loosened up. As the conversation went on, I felt way more confident, especially when talking about my skills and experience. It started to feel more like a normal chat rather than a formal interrogation or something, which really helped me settle into it.
I think I gave my strongest answers when we discussed my pre-interview task. I felt solid explaining my process and the technical, and artistic decisions I made, and I could tell my confidence came through. That part definitely went well. The one question that caught me off guard was about the company itself. Even though I felt prepared for it, I didn’t have their website open, which would’ve made it easier to pull in more specific details. Next time, I’ll have a few tabs ready just in case.
The feedback I got was really positive, and honestly, I agree with it. The main thing I took away is that I need to give longer answers, and not shy away for talking for a longer period of time. I tend to be a bit too straight to the point, and adding more detail or backing my responses with examples or even annecrodes would make them a lot stronger.
Overall, I feel like this was a super helpful experience, which definitely took the edge off my fear of interviews and gave me confidence for the future. Next time, I’ll make sure I’m a bit more prepared by drafting some sample answers I can either keep those on my monitors during an online interview or memorise them for an in-person one. That way, I’ll be less likely to get caught out by surprise questions.
